Telling the big story of Kentucky’s small-town capital city
In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.
The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday
Admission to the museum is free.

Frankfort has a very unique place in history as being the town where the bait casting fishing reel was perfected and first produced. Every place has its historic event or figure, but only we have this distinction. It was a Frankfort industry for over 100 years. Local craftsmen handmade these gems to fish the renowned streams of central Kentucky. Their reputation for quality and beauty was recognized around the world.

Some of the artists represented include: Asa Blanchard, Matthew Harris Jouett, Oliver Frazer, and Paul Sawyier. Located on the 2nd Floor of Liberty Hall, the exhibit is only viewed through a guided tour.

In November of 2004, the Capital City Museum opened its doors to the public. Housed in a 150 year old building that represents all that is left of the Capital Hotel, which burned in 1917, the museum is a large room filled with history and character. There are plenty of details to explore, with exhibits painting a vivid picture of both political and personal life in Kentucky over the past 200 years.
The Capital City Museum is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday
Admission to the museum is free.

Frankfort has a very unique place in history as being the town where the bait casting fishing reel was perfected and first produced. Every place has its historic event or figure, but only we have this distinction. It was a Frankfort industry for over 100 years. Local craftsmen handmade these gems to fish the renowned streams of central Kentucky. Their reputation for quality and beauty was recognized around the world.

We’re having a visiting steam engine again, for the FOURTH year in a row! We’ll host ‘Mack’, Jeddo Coal #85, for three weekends in September! This will be Mack’s debut appearance, as it has just recently been completely rebuilt.
Mack is an 0-4-0 saddle tank steam engine, built in 1928. It is the fourth traveling steam engine owned, rebuilt, and maintained, by John and Barney Gramling, a father and son outfit based in Indiana.
Come out to the Bluegrass Railroad Museum, and ride behind Mack! We’ll have two trains, departing at 2 pm and 5 pm, on each day, September 9 & 10, 16 & 17, and 23 & 24. Ticket prices range between $20 and $29.

Join us for the 2nd annual Rhythm & Roots Summer Vineyard Concert Series. Frankfort has a very unique place in history as being the town where the bait casting fishing reel was perfected and first produced. Every place has its historic event or figure, but only we have this distinction. It was a Frankfort industry for over 100 years. Local craftsmen handmade these gems to fish the renowned streams of central Kentucky. Their reputation for quality and beauty was recognized around the world.

Frankfort Parks and Recreation hosts our annual Golf Scramble at their beautiful Juniper Hills Golf Course on Tuesday, September 12. Kentucky Made: Decorative Arts from the Liberty Hall Collection – Ongoing
Featuring some of the finest examples of Kentucky-made pieces from the Liberty Hall collection, this exhibit explores the social and cultural landscape of 19th-century Kentucky through the work of silversmiths, weavers, furniture makers, and . Some of the artists represented include: Asa Blanchard, Matthew Harris Jouett, Oliver Frazer, and Paul Sawyier. Located on the 2nd Floor of Liberty Hall, the exhibit is only viewed through a guided tour.
3:00 – 4:00 pm – Painting 101, at the Owen County Public Library, 1370 Highway 22 E, Owenton
We will concentrate on mixing tints and shades of red to paint a beautiful poppy. Children under 12 must be with an adult. Registration is required.
